IFBE is delighted to announce the India premiere of the long-awaited exhibition ‘One Life Many’ by Sudarshan Shetty

Inspired by a quotation by Pandit Kumar Gandharva from an interview – “We are individually multiple” – ‘One Life Many’ situates a well known myth recounting the transformation of a sage into a woman, wife and mother in a contemporary world that is re-awakening after a period of brutal isolation and introspection.

Through installations, projections and music, the show explores the possibility of carrying an other or many others within ourselves while the protagonist’s awakening in a different world alludes to the the line that separates the real from the illusory. The juxtaposition of tangible and intangible media heightens our perception of indeterminate selves in uncertain states of being.

The Ice Factory at Ballard Estate (IFBE) is an experimental laboratory for transdisciplinary practices across modern and contemporary architecture, art, and pedagogy. A century-old embodiment... of “the dreams that stuff is made of.” IFBE’s community of architects, artists, scholars, and students exists in the expanding complexity and multiplicity of the present without sacrificing a fidelity to pasts and archiving, to build and chronicle in the here and now, what Reinhard Koselleck felicitously called “futures past.”
