Law for the Arts

Jan 18 20236:30pm-8:00pm

About the event

Calling all creators!

While Art and Law aren’t the most obvious bedfellows, most artists have to deal with legal paperwork of some kind during their careers.

In this informative session, Pankhuri Upadhyay, founder of Maker’s Legal breaks down complex legal concepts, including derivative works, fair use, moral rights and resale royalties using international and Indian case studies.

The hour-long talk will also include a primer on navigating contracts.

With a roster of clients that include some of the country’s top creative professionals from writers, actors, filmmakers, production designers and cinematographers to typeface designers, design studios, art galleries, photographers, literature writers and music composers, Pankhuri is well-versed with the practical aspects of law in each field, and its implications for a range of creatives.

This promises to be an invaluable talk for students and aspiring or mid career artists alike, so sign up now!
